Across the country our political system is worse than ever. And Massachusetts is no longer the exception: we have the least competitive elections and the least transparent legislature in the country. This system keeps power in the hands of a few rather than the many.

We are in a crisis of affordability, housing, transportation and too many more but we rank last in the nation when it comes to passing legislation. We need leaders who will address these unmet needs, a system that takes out the partisan bickering and closed-door discussions, and focuses on what matters to We The People. Our politics is broken, and it doesn’t have to stay this way.

WE CAN TACKLE THIS PROBLEM

In 2026, voters will have a chance to reset the system. We are bringing forward a ballot question that will help fix our politics, elevate new voices and put power back where it belongs: with the people.

All Party Primary Elections

No more restrictive and unrepresentative partisan primaries. Instead, a preliminary election for each statewide, state legislative and federal congressional office would be open to candidates from all parties, with the top two vote-getters advancing to the general election.

Why?

Check Right now, elected officials operate in a system that rewards partisan extremes rather than consensus-building leaders.
Check Only a small, unrepresentative fraction of voters determine an election.
Check Candidates aren't required to engage in broad, substantive debate before the general election.
Check All-candidate primary elections will unlock the true potential of our political system.
Check We already vote this way for mayoral elections in most Massachusetts cities.
Check Every voter can participate in a meaningful way, with candidates competing for broad support, not just their party’s base.
Check New candidate voices can actually be heard.
Check Our elections would finally be more competitive, substantive and reflective of all of us.
